家园 英国人对下届开幕式的讨论 Britain invented or codefied virtually all the world's biggest global sports: football; tennis; rugby; polo; cricket; golf; much of athletics, riding, rowing etc. It is or was the founder or a founding member or original player in virtually every international event, such as being one of the 14 original countries in the Olympics, such as starting the World Cup or Wimbledon.
Britain is the world's foremost literary culture, the world centre of theatre and playwriting, and of quality media. Think of Shakespeare, Austen, Dickens, Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, Ian Fleming, JK Rowling - the tiny tip of a huge iceberg or writers and dramatists, both highly academic and extremely popular, serious and funny. JK Rowling is currently the biggest selling living author in the world and the movies of her books are the biggest franchise. The James Bond franchise is the biggest franchise in terms of number and longevity and second in terms of revenue not adjusted for inflation. Jane Austen themed movies and TV series stride the planet pursued by Poirot and Marple.London is the world centre of theatre, Edinburgh hosts the world's biggest arts festival. The biggest arts productions ever in history - Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables are London productions (ok, Les Mis was a failed French show but it was entirely rewritten and reworked by Cameron Mackintosh and put into English). These are bigger than any movie or book on the planet. London premieres ten times the number of major quality dramas than the next biggest theatre city in the world.25% of all the world's music is recorded in London - no other city has such a dynamic music culture that includes classical, choral, pop, rock, folk and jazz. Britain has both the Proms and X Factor - nowhere else can do that range. It's not an accident that Sara Brightman a crossover artiste turned up on the top of the world in Beijing - she sold 30m of tickets on her last US tour.
Britain is the world centre of news media. BBC news alone is bigger than all the US networks added together in terms of journalists, areas covered, quality of analysis and hours of news broadcast. The BBC has more staff in the Americas than CNN has on the planet. The British had the first newspapers and still read more newspapers than any other nationality in the world.
Britain is the world's second largest producer of movies and of television with the most successful franchise in either - Harry Potter and the 'Idol' shows. We complain about our TV but it is a world beater and a huge earner for the country. Currently virtually all the top non-drama entertainment shows in most of the world are UK originated, with the exception of Big Brother.
London is now the world's richest city and according to Forbes the #1 city for finance and trading. Business and money are part of our culture
本帖一共被 2 帖 引用 (帖内工具实现)家园 That's all very nice 但这些东西怎么表现在开幕式里？我相信BBC纪录片部门可以拍出超级有深度又好看的献礼片子，也相信Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Leona Lewis等人可以搞出比 You & Me 更现代化的主题曲，甚至他们根本不会缺乏前卫的创意，然后呢？就拿电影来比喻，拉不到过亿的投资，你就不是大片，目前世界上能量产“大片”的国家无非美中两国，剩下的都去争文艺片那点小市场或者国内的 Niche, 奥运会开幕从此次之后人们的期待也会如此——特别是在往后几年经济前景欠佳的情况下，人们会更加渴望华丽的盛会（参考往次经济萧条期间的时尚风向），以伦敦现在筹委会的经济状况来看，他们一点机会都没有，他们的主席也开始强调不要将伦敦跟北京比较，说法是“我们无力承担华而不实的宏大建设和花费”云云。
