Did you actually read Huang's articles yourself? Many have pointed out that Huang mis-cited 方宗岱先生于1986 年发表《长江航运与泥沙》一文中的数字, probably intentionally to support his argument. 黄说方文中 葛洲坝1981 年断流那年适逢大汛，坝后沉积了卵石1.09 亿吨, and cited 方文中的 table (page 262). Actually, 1.09 亿吨 refers to both 沙 and 卵石. It is highly likely that most of the 1.09 亿吨 are 沙. Many also pointed out that the Huang's theoretical calculation is way off. It is funny that you put so much trust on his calculation, but not on actual measurement. The correct attitude for a well-trained scientist should be: if the currently measurement method is off, improve it!
