家园 鸦片 有些东西是我们不可以改变的，例如英国的坚船利炮和帝国主义。
有些东西是我们可以改变的，例如为什么鸦片能在中国畅销起来的内部因素。这玩意不是好用便利的洋布洋火，变成流毒显然是一个复杂的过程。
上层满族闲人吸食鸦片是一回事，鸦片缩短他们的寿命或许还能减少点财政负担。但是鸦片缘何在下层普遍开来就是一个重要问题。
我们已知鸦片在中英国内都有卖，也有瘾君子，在知识群体中也没有什么人认为吸食鸦片是跟马术一样的高尚运动。但是我们需要的知识是鸦片在英国没有像中国一样泛滥的原因，是入口管制还是其他原因。即使是进口管制，有利润一样会有大把的走私商往英国境内倒腾。这是对现实也有用的内容。每天骂一骂帝国主义固然很爽，但是不能从精神到肉体都武装起来的话，那只是一种txt而不是exe。

家园 合法与否 查了下，1878年英国立法是禁止中印鸦片成瘾者以外的人吸食，

Britain passes the Opium Act with hopes of reducing opium consumption. Under the new regulation, the selling of opium is restricted to registered Chinese opium smokers and Indian opium eaters while the Burmese are strictly prohibited from smoking opium.
1908年才最终禁止吸食用鸦片销售

In the House of Commons on July 10, 1908, the Minister of Labour proposed the adoption of a motion prohibiting: “the importation, manufacture and sale of opium for other than medicinal purposes.”[1][24] The motion was adopted without debate. The Minister introduced Bill 205, An Act to prohibit the importation, manufacture and sale of opium for other than the medicinal purpose. (Opium Act, 1908).[2][25] The first section of the Act prohibited the importation of opium without authorization from the Minister of Customs. Additionally the drug could be used for medical purposes only. The manufacture, sale and possession for the purpose of selling crude opium or opium prepared for use by smokers was also prohibited. Whoever violated these provisions could be found guilty of a criminal offence punishable by a maximum prison term of three years and/or a minimum fine of $50 and not exceeding $1,000. Even though it prohibited the use of opium, the legislation was aimed at opium dealers, most of whom were Chinese, and not users. The bill was given Royal Assent on July 20, 1908.American consumption of opium rose over four-fold from the 1840s to the 1890s, and the number of addicts peaked at 313,000 in 1896. In the United Kingdom, sales of patent medicines, most of them opium-based, increased almost seven-fold between 1850 and 1905. Significantly, the average consumption of opium per 1,000 population increased from 1.3 pounds in 1827 to over 10 pounds 50 years later.
1877年英国100人消耗10榜大概是4.5kg。此时还没立法限制。不过，至少1827年英国本土不会有多少吸食鸦片的中国苦力？

按照这个算，当时中国大概4亿人口，算下来大概是100人均1千公斤左右。人均10公斤。不过这里值得怀疑的是英国本土的鸦片消费是否是被中国苦力拖上去的。

所谓的鸦片战争，实际上商战，也就是当时的清政府做事情不按照国际约定，和英国约定通商，却又私下对英国商人加上各种限制，再加当地官员的无知，文化冲突自然演变成武装冲突。关键词(Tags): #国奸，家园 商战用枪来打 这英国人也太下作了。
