After Special envoy Hearly's China trip, President Roosevelt placed his bet on Chiang Kai-Shek and obviously angered Mao Tse-Tung who was seeking the US support too. The ideological difference, unfortunately, weighted heavily in the distorted calculation on the part of US.

Since then, the communist governments MEANT to liberate the other two thirds of the world and BURRY the capitalist regimes under the united banner of proletariats of the world. This was a declared war on the capitalist world, and the reason that US and West Europe viewed communism as an evil that was similar to Nazi. USSR expanded its strong hold in the east Europe, North Korea invaded South Korea. Cuba Missile Crises, Viet Kong revolution... The sparks of communist ideas were lighting revolutionary fires all over the world. The capitalist world leader, do you think, would not be reasonably alerted? China was fighting an ideological war with the US in North Korea, in Viet Nam...

The Detente was not sought until China stopped Cultural Revolution and started opening up and reform under Deng Xiaoping. China had a period of about 10 years honey moon time with US during 1979-1989. After Tiananmen and collapse of USSR, US felt that it could not keep silent on China's human rights issues. Then we responded with hostile attitudes since then......

Now by looking at our past records, would you think THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES TO BLAME?
