You are too harsh on Akerlof and Spence. I agree their achievements are not as great as Stiglitz, but the theory of "adverse selection" and "signalling" have profound influneces on our thinking of the working of the economy. In my opinion, they fully deserve the prize even though their achievement is limited to only one particular paper.
